About
Creative individual with a wide range of experience within the art, design, entertainment and media sector. I am interested in how art can benefit society, be it through community-engaged art, art in healthcare or through the cathartic power of storytelling, humour and entertainment. Having trained as an illustrator, graduating from the university of Brighton with first class honours in 2017, my practice has remained broad and eclectic, spanning across multiple disciplines.I was lucky enough to receive the Young Artist Scholarship at Eisteddfod yr Urdd in 2019, enabling me to invest in my practice as an early career artist. Following my work as content creator for HANSH, and online sub-branch of S4C, in 2020-2021, my practice has evolved as I have turned my hand to film-making and developed a passion for telling stories. I have currently written, produced and directed titles for clients such as BBC Wales, Moving Parts International Puppet Festival, HANSH and Wicked Wales. In 2022, I wrote and directed my first live action fictional short through the It’s My Shout scheme. My work in the film industry has, so far, earned a nomination at the British Short Film Awards in addition to winning the Best Welsh Documentary Award at Focus Wales Film Festival, and several festival screenings. I am passionate about progressing my practice in Wales and beyond, working internationally as an Invigilator as part of the Wales in Venice presentation in 2019, and as a delegate at the International Youth Media Summit in 2022. In addition, I have worked extensively with international partners in my role as In House Filmmaker with Wicked Wales, traveling to Sweden and Serbia to teach and collaborate in filmmaking projects. More recently, I travelled to Washington DC as a representative of Urdd Gobaith Cymru, partnering with American Artist, Matt Malone, on a large scale painting celebrating the Wales vs USA game at Dupont Festival. In addition, I have a strong community art practice, currently working as Family Art Club Practitioner at Ty Pawb, and previously working with charities and local schools on participatory art projects. I have recently begun my artist residency at Ty Pawb's Make Space with fellow artist Menai Rowlands, researching the community benefits of puppetry and storytelling. In 2019, I co-found social art initiative, Gwyl y Ferch, with fellow artist Esme Livingston, aiming to provide a stage for local creative women and, through this, fundraise and collaborate with our local Women's Aid branch. To support the community root of my practice, I have received training in therapeutic puppetry, therapeutic art workshops, dementia friendly practice and the museum as wellbeing space.
